Kieron Bowie: The Rising Star Amid Rangers and Celtic Transfer Rumors | Hibs Player Spotlight 2026 (2026)

Transfer talk and speculation can be a real distraction, especially when you're a player in the spotlight. Just ask Kieron Bowie, who's been at the center of attention amid the Rangers and Celtic transfer rumors. But here's where it gets interesting: despite all the noise, Bowie's performance against Motherwell last week was nothing short of impressive.

Tam McManus, a Record Sport columnist, shares his insights on the matter. Having experienced similar situations himself back in 2003, McManus understands the impact transfer rumors can have on a player's mindset. He recalls a time when he was linked with a move to Manchester City, a club that, despite not being the powerhouse it is today, still held significant allure.

The story, published in the Daily Record, suggested that City was sending Asa Hartford, a Maine Road legend, to scout McManus against Dunfermline. The speculation got to him, and he admits his performance suffered as a result.

"The truth is, the speculation and paper talk can get to you," McManus says. "I had an absolute stinker against Dunfermline, and that was the end of that particular transfer talk."

Fast forward to last week, and McManus sees a different story unfolding with Kieron Bowie. Despite the Rangers and Celtic interest, Bowie's performance against Motherwell was mature and composed. With limited service, he remained calm and focused, scoring a crucial goal to rescue a point for Hibs.

"I see a player who is maturing all the time," McManus observes. "He didn't let overeagerness get the better of him. That's a sign of a top player."

McManus believes Bowie has what it takes to make it in the English Premier League. He acknowledges that the competition often values power, pace, and athleticism, but Bowie possesses all those attributes and is improving his finishing and link-up play.

However, the columnist isn't convinced that Rangers or Celtic will meet Hibs' valuation of £6.5 million. David Gray and the Easter Road board are in no rush to sell, and McManus hopes Bowie isn't either.

"Yes, the speculation can be distracting, but right now, Bowie is in a rich vein of form, having scored nine goals this season. If he can maintain this form in the second half of the campaign, I believe he's a shoo-in for a spot on the plane to the World Cup with Scotland."

And this is the part most people miss: it's not just about the transfer speculation. It's about a player's ability to stay focused and perform at their best, even amidst the noise. Kieron Bowie has shown that he can do just that, and for that reason, he's a player to watch in the months to come.

So, what do you think? Is Bowie destined for the English Premier League? Or will he stay with Hibs and continue to shine in the Scottish Premiership? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
