"I see a player who is maturing all the time," McManus observes. "He didn't let overeagerness get the better of him. That's a sign of a top player."
McManus believes Bowie has what it takes to make it in the English Premier League. He acknowledges that the competition often values power, pace, and athleticism, but Bowie possesses all those attributes and is improving his finishing and link-up play.
However, the columnist isn't convinced that Rangers or Celtic will meet Hibs' valuation of £6.5 million. David Gray and the Easter Road board are in no rush to sell, and McManus hopes Bowie isn't either.
"Yes, the speculation can be distracting, but right now, Bowie is in a rich vein of form, having scored nine goals this season. If he can maintain this form in the second half of the campaign, I believe he's a shoo-in for a spot on the plane to the World Cup with Scotland."
