The airport's spokesperson, Peter Kleemann, confirmed that operations resumed in the late morning.
In the Czech Republic, Prague's Vaclav Havel Airport restricted arrivals, while Slovakia's international airport was closed for hours. Hungary's Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Budapest experienced a complete halt in all departures and arrivals due to 'freezing rain and extreme icing conditions,' as reported by the country's transport minister, János Lázár.

The cold weather has also impacted public transport systems. In Budapest, tram services were disrupted due to accumulating ice after significant snowfall last week. Numerous national and international rail services were canceled or delayed across the region, including in Austria, where the national railway operator, ÖBB, expected delays in the north and east, including Vienna. Czech authorities reported canceled trains and buses, with passengers facing hours-long delays at the main station in the capital.

In Romania, heavy snowfall over the past week, combined with temperatures as low as -13 degrees Celsius, forced some schools to move classes online. The Hungarian Meteorological Service predicted significant snowfall in the east and rain or freezing rain in the west, further highlighting the challenges faced by residents and travelers alike.
